Aluminum gates and fences celebrating the attributes of women with the title words incorporated: Courage showing immigrants on a boat, Love women fairies as birds and fish, and Wisdom the eyes and silhouette of a flying woman. Opened in 1992 as the nation’s first park dedicated to women, Women’s Park in Miami-Dade County fulfills Roxcy O’Neal Bolton’s dream to celebrate women’s impact. This 15-acre lakeside retreat features the Women’s History Gallery, showcasing artifacts from a 1992 time capsule, unearthed in 2023, with works by figures like Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Zora Neale Hurston. Lydia Rubio’s Gates and Fences Project, a mosaic poem, and a vibrant playground blend public art, history, and innovative design, honoring women’s enduring resilience and legacy.
